The set up

The Long-Thibaud contest was set up thanks to the willingness of two artists who were already in their moment of glory and still performing to a wide audience. Their influence, already present between the wars, affirmed itself all over the world, and in France they enjoyed rare feelings of admiration and the tenderness of an audience marvelled by the wealth of their talent and their personalities so different from one another.
