Réseau de Transport de l’Electricité

The RTE is the administrator of the French network of transportation of electricity. Company of public service, its mission consists in exploitation, maintenance and development of the network of high and very high voltage. It is guarantor for good fonctioning and safety of the electric system.

RTE dispatches electricity between the French and European providers and the consumers, as well as for electricity dispensers (ERDF and the local companies of distribution) and for industrialists who are directly connected to the network.

With 100 000 km of lines (from 63 000 to 400 000 volts) and 46 cross-border lines, the network managed by RTE is the most important in Europe. RTE made a turnover of 4 126 millions euros in 2007 and employs about 8 300 salaried.
