Works of the programme
The next violin contest will take place
from 5th to 15th November 2010.
1. PRESELECTION on CD support (20 minutes maximum)
The recording of this CD will be made especially for the competition, without stop during the execution, regarding as the required pro+gram and timing. No editing or technical manipulations will be allowed. A certificate would have to prove it. No other recording
will be accepted.
A) Paganini : Caprice No 24
B) J.-S. Bach : 2 different movements of a same sonata or a same partita
C) One work at the candidate's choice among the following list :
- Saint-Saëns : Rondo capriccioso
- Beethoven : Romance in F
- Szymanovski : Nocturne or Tarentelle op. 28
- Sarasate : Zapateado
- Schönberg : Fantasy
2. ELIMINATORY ROUND (20 minutes maximum)
A) at candidates's choice :
Paganini :
- Nel cor più non mi sento
- or I Palpiti
- or Variations on G string «Moïse», on a Rossini thema
- or 2 Caprices at the judges' choice, except No 13 and No 14,
among 3 prepared by the candidate
(The choice will be given the day before the round to the candidate.)

Ernst :
- The Erl-King, op. 26
- or The Last Summer Rose
B) Mozart : at candidate's choice (without repeat)
- Sonata in B moll major K 378 (2nd movement «Andantino sostenuto e cantabile»)
- or Sonate in F major K 576 (2nd movement, «Andante»)
- or Sonata in D major K 306 (2nd movement, «Andante cantabile»)
- or Sonata in B moll major K 454 (2nd movement, «Andante»)
c) at candidates'choice :
- PROKOFIEV : Sonata No 1 in F minor op. 80 («Allegro Brusco»)
- or STRAVINSKY : Italian Suite (from Pucinella) : Menuet and Finale
- or BARTOK : Sonata for Violin Solo : Fuga («Risoluto, non troppo vivo»)

3. SEMI-FINAL TEST (40 minutes maximum)
A) J.-S. BACH, at the candidate's choice
- Sonata No 1 in G minor BWV 1001
- or Sonata No 2 in A minor
- or Partita No 3 in E major BWV 1006
- or Chaconne of the Partita No 2 in D minor BWV 1004.
(Repeats are at the candidate's choice up to the 40 minutes.)
B) Weill : Concerto op. 12 (Finale)
C) Gabriel Fauré : Romance in B flat major op. 28
D) A work to be chosen by the candidate up to the required time (within 40 minutes)

4. RECITAL FINAL TEST (60 minutes maximum)
A) the contemporary work, especially written for the competition (8 /10 mn).
B) Programme free including one work of a French composer, or one work
of Guillaume Leleu, César Franck, Frank Martin or Arthur Honegger as you prefer.

5. FINALE WITH ORCHESTRA
Two concertos to be prepared, between the following propositions (one per list). The jury, after the semi-finale test, will choose the concertoto be played by the finalist :
List A :
- Beethoven : Concerto in D major
- Brahms : Concerto in D major op. 77
- Sibelius : Concerto in D Major op. 47
List B :
- Shostakovich : Concerto No 2 in C flat minor op. 129
- Prokofiev : Concerto No 2 in G minor op. 63
- Szymanowski : Concerto No 2 op. 61
